TL;DR: You don't have to be a Member to browse Harvest Hosts locations. Anyone can use the Discover map to see where all 9,700+ Host locations are located before signing up. Search by city or state, narrow results with filters (host type, RV length, hookups, same-day booking, extra nights, dates).

How to Search Harvest Hosts Locations: A Quick Tour of the Discover Map, Filters, and Plan a Trip Tool

Yes, You Can Browse Harvest Hosts Locations Before You Sign Up

One of the most common questions we get from RVers who are curious about Harvest Hosts is some version of, "How do I know there are locations where I actually travel?" Totally fair. Before you pay for an annual membership, you want to see what you're getting.

Good news: the Discover map is (mostly) public. You can move around the map, zoom into the areas you plan to visit, and use filters to see exactly which types of Hosts are available - all before you ever create an account. You will not get the actual Host's name, be able to read reviews, or see all of the Host's photos until becoming a Member.

"This app is perfect for us travelers and staying up to date on locations we are staying at. Great maps, everything!!!" - Harvest Hosts User, App Store Review

How to Search for Harvest Hosts Locations

Searching is built around one beautifully simple flow:

  • Head to harvesthosts.com/discover.
  • Click the Search bar at the top of the map.
  • Start typing a city, state, region, or landmark - "Asheville," "California," "Yosemite," "Paso Robles."
  • Pick the matching suggestion as it pops up. The map automatically pans and zooms to that area and surfaces every Host within view.

From there, you can drag the map, pinch to zoom, and click any pin to preview the Host's type, photos, and amenities. Members can open the full Host profile to read reviews and request a stay; non-members get a beautifully detailed teaser.

The Filter Options That Make Discover Powerful

Filters are where the Discover map really earns its keep. Use filters to get a map of RV Camping locations that are tailored to your travel needs and interests. This is especially helpful when you don't have a set destination where you need to find an overnight stay, and want to start planning trips around the cool Host locations you want to visit. This is also helpful before signing up for a Membership so you can see how many Host locations will suit your needs before joining. You'll find the following filter options at the top of your map:

Dates

Set the date or date range you plan to travel. The map filters down to Hosts who have availability during that window, which is enormously useful for planning a few months out.

Host Type

Choose any combination of Host categories you want to see: Farms, Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries, Attractions, plus Golf Courses and Community Hosts if you have a Harvest Hosts All Access Membership.

Total Length

Enter your total RV length (including a tow vehicle if you have one) and the map will only show you the Hosts who can comfortably accommodate your rig. No more pulling into a tight farm lane with a 40-foot fifth wheel and discovering the parking spot is sized for a Class B.

Hookups

Filter for Hosts that offer electric or water hookups. Not all Hosts have these to offer, but many do! Most Hosts charge a small fee for the convenience, but it's a lifesaver in extreme heat or cold when you want to run AC or the furnace overnight without leaning on your house batteries.

Stay Extra Nights

Harvest Hosts is famous for the overnight (or one-night) stay model, but plenty of Hosts allow up to four extra nights. Similar to how it works for electric hookups, Hosts may charge you a fee to stay extra nights- they keep 100% of this fee. Toggle this filter and you'll see only the properties that welcome longer stays, perfect for slow-travel weekends at a vineyard or working farm.

Campground Partners

Harvest Hosts Members will see a filter to show Campground Partner Locations. These are 1,200+ private campgrounds, RV parks, and RV resorts located across the country that offer discounts on nightly camping fees and other perks. These are traditional campgrounds operating independently from Harvest Hosts - think concrete parking lots, nightly fees, full hookup spots, and other amenities. The typical Harvest Hosts etiquette does not apply; follow the campground's rules!

Same Day Booking

Over 50% of our Hosts accept same-day requests. If you're on the road and decide you'd rather not push another 100 miles, switch this filter on. The map will show only Hosts that are okay with a same-day request- typically the most flexible and traveler-friendly properties in the network. Even with this feature, you'll want to request within business Hours or by the time deadline stated in their profile for best results.

Remember: Just because a Host accepts same-day requests does not mean that you can just turn up. Wait for a confirmed booking before arriving, or call the business to ask them to review your stay request if you're on a time crunch.

More: Pets, and Other Preferences

Behind the "More" button, you'll find additional filters for things like "Pets Allowed" (over 90% of our network), Generators Allowed, WiFi Available, Separate Tow Vehicle Parking, Slideouts Allowed, and other preference-level details. Stack as many filters as you need - the map updates instantly.

The "Plan a Trip" Tool: Route Planning for Real RV Travelers

If you've ever spent an evening with a paper map and a highlighter trying to figure out which Hosts fall along your driving route, you're going to love this. The Plan a Trip tool has recently undergone significant improvements, and Members have been raving about it. This feature is only available to active Members, and is not available to use before signing up.

How Plan a Trip Works

  • Head to your Member Dashboard, and navigate to the "Plan Trip" tab next to "Discover Hosts."
  • Enter your Starting Point - your home address, a current location, or a Host you already plan to visit.
  • Enter your Destination - anywhere in North America.
  • Use the Add Stop button to plug in extra waypoints. Multi-stop road trips? Easy. You can add as many stops as you want. You can also drag the stops to rearrange the order
  • Adjust the Hosts Within distance slider at the bottom to set how far off your route you're willing to detour. The slider runs from about 5 miles (tight) to 120 miles (loose), so you can keep your trip efficient or get adventurous.
  • Every Harvest Hosts location along that corridor will appear on your route. Click any pin to preview the Host, then click the "Add to this Trip" button to add it as a stop on your planned route. Note: This does not book the stay for you. You will still have to submit a stay request.

Save Your Trips for Later

Once you've built a route you love, click Save Trip, give it a name, add travel dates, and optionally a description. The trip lands in your Saved library so you can come back to it, edit it, or add specific Hosts to it later.

To add a Host to a saved trip, click the "Add to Trip" button that appears on the Host's preview card and profile, and check the box next to the trip you want. You can also click the heart button to add to your favorites, which can serve as a list of Hosts you'd love to stay at someday, ready to slot into a future itinerary.

Bonus: Map Layers That Help You Travel Smarter

This one's less famous but worth knowing about. On the top right corner of the Discover map, you'll find a button that opens a layers menu with four categories of overlays:

Screenshot 2026-05-15 155533.png

  • Map Type - Switch between street, terrain, and satellite views. Satellite is especially nice for previewing the terrain of your route.
  • Cell Coverage - Overlay Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or US Cellular service so you can confirm you'll have a signal before you commit. (Big deal for full-timers who work from the road.)
  • Services - You'll find a "Dump Stations" and a "Diesel Discounts" option. The dump stations option shows you pins of user-reported independent dump stations throughout North America. The diesel discounts option shows you gas stations that offer diesel discounts through Open Roads. You must be an Open Roads member to get these savings.
  • Weather - Toggle temperature, precipitation, or wind layers if you're keeping an eye on a storm or planning a snowbird run.

You can combine one Map Type with one Cell or Weather layer at a time, and there's a reset button in the corner to clear everything quickly.

With 9,700+ Hosts in the network and counting, one of the most common bits of feedback we hear is simply how many great places there are to choose from.
